Starting from the basics

Welcome to The Fihankra Foundation!

Fihankra is an adrinka symbol representing safety and security, specifically in the home. That is the goal of our organization -- to help improve the health and welfare of children in Ghana, creating a sense of security and safety for their growth.

The first focus of the Foundation is to help a specific foster home. The foster home is run by a single family that has opened their doors to over TWENTY children whom they support without outside assistance. The organization has gathered $250 in donations to purchase window screens and mosquito nets for the home in the efforts to reduce the risk of malaria and reduce the sores that the children currently experience from bug bites and poor air circulation in the home. Pictures of delivery of these goods will be posted soon.

Other goals of the Fihankra Foundation include child sponsorship, education scholarships, and developing projects that will help the foster home become self-sufficient to pay for rice and electricity for the month. Details on these goals will be outlined in future posts.

For now, we leave you with the face of a single child whom your donations can help in a very real way.

Check back soon to learn more about our organization and projects to help the children of Ghana!

  2. Beckie - I'm adding you to my family's personal blog (was www.afieldmadeready.blogpost.com...soon to be pottersshed.blogspot.com) and my blog (www.theten0clockscholar.blogspot.com). My blog gets a decent amount of traffic for a homeschool-type blog...I'd be happy to do post some info about your organization as you get it under way. Let me know.
